Role
Doug Sawyer
received his CCIM designation in November of 1990 and has been active in commercial
and investment real estate for over 30 years. He specializes in commercial
sales, office leasing and the development of small shopping centers and
industrial space. He is currently President/Owner of Sawyer Properties, Inc.,
and Vice President of Phoenix Properties, Inc., a wholly owned investment
company.

Additional
involvement with the CCIM Institute includes serving as current President of
the CCIM Education Foundation and Chair of the Faculty Sub-committee. Doug has
also served on the Board of Directors for the CCIM Institute and was President
of the Virginia CCIM Chapter in 2000. Within the REALTOR family, he was elected
to serve as the 2001 state president for the Virginia Association of Realtors®,
and as the 1997 President of the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors®, for
which he was named Realtor® of the Year in 2001. On a national level, Doug is a
Director of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) representing Virginia.
Instructional
Background
Doug is a
senior instructor for CI 101, CI 102, and Advanced Studies in Market Analysis,
teaching in the US as well as internationally. He has taught Commercial
Investment classes in Warsaw, Moscow, St Petersburg, Taiwan, and London as well
as presentations to US trade groups. In 2003 and 2004, Doug was recognized by
his peers as the CI 102 Senior Instructor of the Year. In 2007, Doug was also
awarded as the 101 Instructor of the Year.
Education
Doug
graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil
Engineering.

Mark Cypert, CCIM Dallas, TX
Current Role:
Mark Cypert is the President of Encore Office, LLC which is an operation
division of Encore Enterprises, a diversified commercial real estate firm,
which invests in office, hospitality, retail and multi-family property holdings
throughout the United States.
In addition to managing the operations of the Office Division, Mr. Cypert's
responsibilities with Encore include raising institutional equity capital and
managing the company’s investment research and underwriting programs.
Professional
Background:
During his career, Mr. Cypert has participated in over 15 million square feet
of commercial real estate investment and development ventures with a total
market capitalization of over $1.8 billion. Prior to joining Encore, Mr. Cypert
served as Managing Director and Principal of Cawley Partners where he was
responsible for overseeing the firm’s commercial real estate investment
funds. Mr. Cypert has also previously held positions at CRT Properties, a NYSE
office REIT, where as Senior Vice President he led the firm's Southwest and Mid-Atlantic
Divisions; Thomas Properties Group where he was Vice President and Investment
Officer and was responsible for the company's acquisitions efforts; and at UBS
Realty Investors, where he served as Director of Asset Management.
Education:
Mr. Cypert is a graduate of Texas
Tech University
with a degree in Construction Engineering Technology. Mr. Cypert holds the CCIM
and RPA designations and he is a Senior Instructor for the Commercial
Investment Real Estate Institute, where he has taught since 2000. His area of
specialty is commercial real estate market analysis and he has contributed
extensively to the current CI 102 course curriculum including the office case
study and market gap analysis models. Mr. Cypert has also authored and
currently teaches the Advanced Market Analysis course offered through the Ward Center
for Real Estate Studies. He has received the CI 102 Instructor of the Year
award on three occasions and was also honored as the 2011 recipient of the
Victor L. Lyon Award for outstanding contributions to the CCIM program.

Carmela Ma is President of CJM Associates, a commercial
brokerage and consulting firm located in Beverly Hills, California. She is a
licensed real estate broker and a consultant/advisor on real estate to
financial institutions.
Professional Background
Carmela has extensive international business experience that
began in the early 1970's. Her projects and meetings have taken her throughout
Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Pacific Rim countries, Canada, and the
US.
CCIM and Professional Affiliation Experience
Carmela's local involvement includes serving as Director of
the Greater Los Angeles CCIM Chapter. She is also a past president and founding
member of that Chapter.
Instructional Background
Carmela is a well-respected CCIM instructor as well as a
senior instructor and past dean for the National Association of Realtors®
Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) program. She teaches and
speaks on real estate both domestically and internationally. In 2003, Carmela
received CCIM's Robert L. Ward Instructor of the Year award and the People's
Choice award (highest student ratings). She received the CI 101 Senior
Instructor of the Year award in 2001, and the CIPS International Instructor of
the Year award in 2000.
